“The Alliance and the Resistance cannot suffer a repeat of the slaughter at Specula Imperatoris. As such, they will not march upon Castrum Abania until they can be certain the fortress's main cannon will not be brought to bear against them. With the aid of an Alliance contact in Radiata, you and your comrades have devised a plan to infiltrate the castrum and seize control of the cannon. Several parties, including yours, will attempt to create a diversion inside the castrum, thereby allowing Lyse and her unit of Resistance fighters to proceed relatively unhindered to the fire control center. Weapons research is to be your destination, and one can only imagine what manner of foes await you there...

Castrum Abania is a level 69 dungeon introduced in patch 4.0 with Stormblood. The bosses were significantly overhauled in patch 6.4 as part of the implementation of Duty Support.

Bosses
Magna Roader
- Wheel: Tankbuster.
- Magitek Fire II: Targeted Circle AoE
- Magitek Fire III: Group-wide AoE damage
- Wild Speed: Rushes around the room in line patterns. During this attack, two 12th Legion Optio adds will spawn and activate the cannons on the sides of the arena, bombarding random players with avoidable AoEs. Defeat the adds to commandeer their cannons and use its ability on Magna Roader to disrupt this attack. This attack will continue indefinitely until Magna Roader is hit with a cannon shot. Be warned that the Magna Roader cannot be harmed while it is speeding across the arena - wait for it to pause before firing.
Subject Number XXIV
- Elemental Overload: Partywide damage that is either fire, ice, or thunder-aspected, determining its next attacks.

- Note that after each set of elemental attacks, the boss will become staggered and receive a Vulnerability Up debuff.

Inferno
- Ketu Slash: Tankbuster.
- Rahu Blaster: Targeted Column AoE.
- Ketu & Rahu: Ground targeted AoE and Player targeted AoE.
- Roids: Periodically, Inferno will move to the back of the arena and get showered by the Magitek device there to empower his arms.
- Empowered Ketu: Adds a Bleed debuff to the Tank. The second empower adds Vulnerability Up.
- Empowered Rahu: Adds a multi-column room-wide AoE and a Proximity AoE. Second empower adds two player targeted AoEs.
- Legion Adds: Two 12th Legion Death Claws and one 12th Legion Packer will spawn. The two Death Claws will tether to random players and will incapacitate them should they reach their tethered player. The Packer will slowly move towards the back of the arena and attempt to use Quick Charge on the device. If the Packer is able to complete Quick Charge, Inferno will immediately upgrade his arms further.

Thr Fire-Breathing Fortress
Situated on the eastern edge of the Peaks region, this imperial citadel is immediately recognizable by its massive cannon, whose menacing silhouette is visible scores of malms away. Such a weapon was constructed for the purpose of bringing down targets as prodigious as Midgardsormr, but it was no less effective against men, as was made plain during the siege of Specula Imperatoris. Heedless of their comrades fighting within, the Garleans turned the cannon on their own stronghold, inflicting grievous casualties on both sides.
As the war for Ala Mhigo’s liberation approached its climax, the armies of the Alliance and the Resistance sought to capture the castrum, but they could not march upon it for fear of the cannon’s barrage. A plan was devised which saw a small contingent infiltrate the garrison and secure control of the weapon. With it thus rendered dormant, the Eorzean Alliance was free to strike, and strike it did with overwhelming force to wrest the castrum from the Empire and secure a crucial foothold in the struggle.
Inferno
More monster than machina, this automaton was born of an accident in the course of synthetic muscle development. Unable to be controlled and able only to destroy, it was essentially a failed creation, but it found the castrum’s defense—in part to test its endurance—and was keenly observed by its creator, Aulus.
Number XXIV
Aulus mal Asina sought to infuse pureblood Garleans with fourth the ability to manipulate aether, and with his twenty-fourth subject he finally succeeded. The experiment was not without side effects, however, and the subject exhibited psychological instability. With further live testing, the scientist would go on to create the Resonant.
